One sweltering summer day in 2015, Drew was laboring over constructing U.S. Highway 75 in Allen, TX. During lunch, he needed tech help with his iPad. Little did he know, Alex was hopping between job sites assisting with tech management. To his pleasure he saw a beautiful smiling blonde as he walked through the job trailer. Drew couldn’t help himself but to smile and joke around.

Drew had customized his company iPad with a lovely tree stump as his background. When asked why he simply replied with “I love the outdoors.” As conversation kept rolling regarding camping, hiking, and lakes, Drew casually mentioned his boat. One thing led to another and soon enough a boating outing was on the books for a few weekends from then (but first he had to “mow the lawn out in East Texas” or rather cut the pasture).

A half day boating trip turned into a full day on the lake, complete with eating at the Flying Saucer, fishing, and pizza to celebrate. Highlights included Alex catching a catfish and discovering we both went to the same church! A week later Drew invited Alex to his church homegroup where she met a great, godly community that has lasted the test of time.

Since that sweltering summer four years ago, Drew and Alex have adventured near and far. Drew acquired a passport and has been to Mexico (three times), Canada, Ireland, and Iceland. Alex has spent many a moon in Drew’s homeland of East Texas riding four wheelers, eating steaks, and enjoying the solitude of nature. Long distance came and went as Drew has worked 9-hours away in West Texas oil industry, and even as he worked many, many states away in Canada. Through 2017 and 2018 Alex kept herself busy with their Great Dane Daisy and starting a new job with an engineering consulting firm. With the ringing in of 2019, Drew started a new job in the DFW metroplex bringing these two lovebirds back together again.

December 2019 is coming up and the countdown in on. We are excited to start the next big adventure together with all of our friends and family in Emory, TX!

The Proposal

Drew was working in far, far West Texas April of 2018. Alex was working on a deadline at work which required a few long nights and one all-nighter. Coming home Friday morning, she slept all day and into the evening. She had plans Saturday for a relaxing day with her friend Elizabeth to get their nails done, but little did she know, Elizabeth had secretly been conspiring. Sneakily, Drew had been in town since Wednesday camped out nearby at a friends house.

As Elizabeth was signing her tab at the nail saloon, she asked Alex to hold onto something, something that said “CLUE # 1.” Commence a real life scavenger hunt/Amazing Race! Clue # 1 led to the dog park where Drew’s brother Reid was located with Drew/Alex’s Great Dane Daisy. From there, Clue # 2 led to the small town of Celina, TX where Drew was located. Surprised to see Drew (since he was supposed to be 9-hours away), Alex ran over to Drew at the gazebo. There, Drew was standing with Clue # 3 as he professed his love, got down on one knee, and proposed! Of course, Alex said yes!
